The grant will allow the governor's office and the Texas Economic Development and Tourism office to pay for a tourism marketing and promotion program to accelerate the recovery of the state's travel and tourism industry. The funding is part of $314 million awarded by the American Rescue Plan Act's State Travel, Tourism and Outdoor Recreation grant program. Raimondo said in a news release. “The State Tourism grants give states and territories the flexible opportunity to boost their local tourism industry and ensure that jobs are restored and tourists return safely.” The program provides states and territories across the country $510 million in state tourism grants and $240 million competitive tourism grants to help the economic recovery in areas that were hardest hit by COVID-19. Texas is among 34 states and the District of Columbia to receive a grant. More grants are expected in the coming weeks and months. — James Barragán [END] [1] URL: https://mailchi.mp/texastribune/the-blast-state-abortion-lawsuit-federal-stimulus-money-save-austin-nows-next-steps Republishing Guidelines: URL:https://www.texastribune.org/republishing-guidelines/ via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/texastribune/
