This morning, Texas GOP Chair Matt Rinaldi said he thinks another overtime round will happen probably after the holidays but that he has not yet “heard anything directly from the governor’s office” about it. Rinaldi told Scott Braddock, editor of Quorum Report who was filling in for Dallas radio host Mark Davis, that about 20 lawmakers have so far called on Gov. Greg Abbott to convene a special session on the issue. “I don’t think we can avoid it,” Rinaldi said. Asked whether he had concerns about a special session heading into primary season, Rinaldi said: “This isn’t something that needs to take a month, that’s why we have been promoting a four-day fourth session. You can do this in a few days, like Florida did, like Tennessee is doing, so it shouldn’t impact the primary at all.” Meanwhile … We’ve seen at least two House Republicans today join the calls for a fourth special session: David Spiller of Jacksboro and Tom Oliverson of Cypress. — Cassi Pollock [END] [1] URL: https://mailchi.mp/texastribune/the-blast-fourth-special-session-rumblings-and-election-updates Republishing Guidelines: URL:https://www.texastribune.org/republishing-guidelines/ via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/texastribune/
