Today is the beginning of the Memorial Day holiday weekend; a three-day weekend for many of us but not for me. Monday is one of my regularly scheduled workdays and I could use the time and a half because of the other thing that Memorial Day weekend represents: the unofficial beginning of the summer. (Besides, I prefer to work as many holidays as I can unless I am back home visiting family in Detroit.) This summer, I have plans. My summer plans mostly revolve around attending Netroots Nation in Baltimore July 11-13. And there is no way I am going to Baltimore without visiting my cousin (one of Mom’s best friends) in DC after Netroots. In fact, I may visit DC a couple of days before NN, as well. So there will be a good week and a half to two-week chunk that I will be on the East Coast. I’ll return home and prepare to catch the sights and sounds of the Democratic National Convention on the Aug.19-22. I do want to be able to provide some coverage of the goings-on for Daily Kos so...we’ll see what happens with that. The other thing that I would like to do this summer is to visit as many museums that I can; it has been over a decade since I truly visited museums. In fact, I can do a lot of that in DC, as well. While I do make an effort to live in the moment, I must say that I am really looking forward to this summer. For a lot of reasons. Heck, I might even write-up a museum series of diaries. I might. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
