Biden IS Hammering Trump on the Conviction - and on Everything Trump Did in the WH [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-01 Well, it didn’t take long for the handwringing, moaning, and second-guessing to start around here about how Biden and the rest of the Democrats are still playing “nice” and not using Trump’s convictions to their advantage. (And, to be fair, some professional Democrats like David Axelrod are cautioning the campaign against being "tempted to flood the zone about the conviction." Fortunately, Biden didn’t listen. Biden goes all-in on calling Trump a "convicted felon" After a day of holding its fire, the Biden campaign late Friday blasted Donald Trump as a "convicted felon" — an indication the president's team has decided to seize upon Trump's conviction to question his fitness for the White House. The Biden campaign put out this press release titled 34 Highlights from Convicted Felon Donald Trump's Press Conference Unhinged Speech (and yes, the strikethrough is in the original!). Read the whole thing, but here is #1 as a sample: “If they can do this to me, they can do this to anyone.” (other people typically don’t allegedly pay hush money to a pornstar they had an affair with) And then there’s zinger #15: “I don’t feel 77” (He looks older) Axios explains that the campaign was just waiting to see what Trump would do before crafting their response. Throughout the day Friday, Biden advisers and Democratic strategists on congressional campaigns said they wanted to know more about how Trump's conviction on 34 felony counts is playing with voters before launching a full-throated attack strategy. But by the evening, Biden's campaign apparently had made the call. It sent out a press release clearly designed to get under Trump's skin, listing "34 Lowlights [sic] from Convicted Felon Donald Trump's" speech. “Get under Trump’s skin.” And he’s not stopping there. Biden Hopes to Revive Bad Memories of Trump “President Biden’s re-election strategy rests in large part on reminding voters about the darkest days of Donald Trump’s presidency: the Capitol riot, a botched response to Covid-19 and violence driven by racial strife in Charlottesville, Va,” the Wall Street Journal reports. Folks, Dark Brandon has got this. STOP PANICKING. ----------------------------------------------— Other Democrats are homing in on the convictions too: Democrats weigh tying GOP candidates to Trump’s hush money verdict. Despite the weaselly headline, some Dems are going full blast: Less than 20 minutes after the guilty verdict landed, Democrat Mondaire Jones lashed out against his Republican opponent, Rep. Michael Lawler (R-N.Y.), for supporting Donald Trump despite his conviction in the hush money case. and Other Democrats running in competitive races also jumped on Trump’s resounding conviction as a way to question their Republican opponents’ judgment heading into a pitched battle for the House majority in November. Furthermore: It seems as if national Democrats are on board with leaning into the guilty verdict. By early Friday afternoon the House Majority PAC, the super PAC affiliated with Democratic leadership, began issuing statement after statement under an “I support crime” headline for each embattled GOP incumbent defending Trump. Democrats have centered their message on saying the verdict shows that every American faces consequences for their actions and to remind voters in competitive House districts, many of which favored President Biden four years ago, that their Republican counterpart cannot be independent from Trump. Now, stop second-guessing and make them keep it up.
