Boebert's Beetlejuice lies slapped down by determined debate moderator [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-01 On Thursday, Lauren Boebert and five other candidates for the GOP nomination in Colorado’s 4th congressional district met for a pre-primary debate. Boebert embraced the MAGA philosophy for these events. Don’t answer the question. Change the subject. Insult somebody. Keep talking after your time is up. But for once, a debate moderator kept control. TV 9 News Denver anchor, Kyle Clark, shut the carpet-bagging opportunist down. And Lauren was left talking, with no one listening, when Clark dismissed her lies and moved on to another candidate. Clark asked Boebert about her infamous dalliance during a performance of Beetlejuice. (Video at the bottom of the page.) Clark: “But you want to talk about the theater thing?” Boebert: “Uh sure. So Kyle I, I certainly have owned out, uh, I owned up to my night out in Denver. Note: Lauren “owned up” only after a security video proved that her first version of events was a lie . She continued: Boebert: “Um, and you know I, I’ve gone on that public apology tour and I’m grateful for the mercy and grace that has been shown. But I’m, I'm not going to continue to live life in shame and, um, be beat up by this. And, you know, I would like to go back to my record.” Clark was not ready to let Boebert ooze her way out. Clark: “We're not gonna do that. You had plenty of time to answer the question. You chose not to. That's fine. I just wanna make sure … And you have apologized for the theater incident.” Boebert: “I certainly have.” Clark: “I just want to make sure. Did you apologize for the behavior that went on with you and your date? Boebert tries to interrupt and starts talking. Clark ignores her. Clark: “Or, pardon me, or did you apologize for lying to voters about what you did that night and the disrespect you showed to service workers that night? What specifically were you apologizing for? Boebert then denies the truth and seasons the lie with some “out of context” nonsense. Boebert: “I, I don't believe there was disrespect. There were things that were absolutely taken out of context. Clark then points out that the context of the night's events is on tape. Clark: “There's a video of your interactions with service workers. I’m just. I’m asking are you apologizing for lying to the voters, or the business you did?” (At this point, Clark waves his fingers seemingly to signify he is talking about the mutual groping) Boebert, who had started talking while Clark succeeded in finishing his question, decided to focus on one particular act. Boebert: “It has been reported that I flipped someone off. But I did not. So, I mean I, I think it has been very mischaracterized.” Here is a screen grab of Boebert not flipping someone off. Has she ever told the truth? Perhaps by mistake. According to locals, Boebert and her team had apparently been digging up dirt on Clark — how MAGA — and she spread it in an attempt to blunt his questions and change the conversation. Boebert: “Um, I’m, I’m apologizing for you, Kyle Clark, getting footage and releasing that. And, and people seeing this in a very private moment. I do not know what footage Clark ‘got and released’ that may have reflected badly on him. But perhaps Coloradans are familiar? If so, please educate me in the comments. Clark briefly acknowledged she said something, But immediately redirected the conversation back to the nature of Boebert’s apology. Clark: “Certainly. It was very important to figure out whether you were telling the truth or a public agency was lying about your conduct. Either way, it was very important for us to find out.” While a relaxed Clark continued his thoughts, an agitated Boebert attempted, unsuccessfully, to talk over him. She was trying to develop her point that Clark had done something immoral, distasteful, perhaps illegal. Again, not knowing the local scuttlebutt, I cannot say which. Boebert: “But, but, Kyle, you just had an interview recently with (unintelligible) Denver. You’re saying how disgusting it is to record someone without their knowledge. And you did the very same thing and released … ” Unfortunately, the tape ends there. However, let us note that Clark is not running for anything. Meanwhile, as the musteline Boebert pleasured herself with a fruitless diversion, Clark serenely turned away from her and continued his questions. Clark: “Thank you very much. (Which is moderator speak for STFU) We’re going to talk about earmarks in Congress. Let’s talk about the use of earmarks in Congress.” And the debate moved on. For all I know, Boebert is still talking on an empty stage in a dark room.
