The Price for Staying with Trump Just Got Higher [1]

After yesterday’s nationally broadcast “Press Conference,” the price just got higher for GOP officials who are swallowing their consciences to endorse Trump. Before, they had to forget Jan. 6th’s attempted violent overthrow of the government, but now they have to avert their eyes from genocidal threats.

At yesterday’s presser, Trump said:

But now record levels of terrorists, record levels, the highest level we’ve ever seen of terrorists, are pouring into our country. You have China within just the last few months, 29,000 people came in and I looked at them on a line. And they look like perfect soldiers. They’re almost all male, from 19 to 25. It looks like a recruiting exercise. They have beautiful tents. They have propane stoves. They have cell phones, the best you can buy. And so what’s going on? it looks like they’re building an army right in our country. Now I don’t think that wouldn’t happen, right? We’re losing our country.

As is usual with him, he tries to cover his ass by apparently taking it back at the very end, but the message was already sent. China is sending an undercover army. That means he has just targeted all Chinese all as potential enemies.

Why would he say that except to instill fear? What is more fearful than enemies hiding in your midst? It doesn’t take much for his followers to conclude that it more than justifies; it demands self-defense by any means necessary.

He is saying there is an invisible army in our midst, only visible by their skin color.

At the very best, he is scaring people for votes with willful disregard for the danger that his words create for Chinese Americans and other Asians. He simply does not care if his words can very well provoke violence against each and every Asian American.

So if you are standing with Trump, you are remaining with a man who exploits his platform to stir up violence against Asian Americans. It’s not the first time he has targeted immigrants, but now he’s openly making it racial on national tv. You need to get out while you still can.
