President Biden’s cease-fire and hostage exchange plan that was recently articulated has resonated with Israelis. 120k marched in Tel Aviv on Saturday urging PM Netanyahu to embrace the Biden framework to put an end to the war, bring the hostages home and call for elections. Some of those who marched are hostage families and they are angry with a government obsessed with revenge instead of prioritizing hostage release through negotiation. al-Jazeera interviewed Maoz Inon, the son of an elderly Israeli couple who was murdered by Hamas terrorists on 10/7. He insists that only a diplomatic solution will lead to peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians. He argues that despite the trauma felt by many Israelis, they are not sold on Netanyahu’s extremist coalition’s vision of perpetual war. Mr. Inon is quite a remarkable man despite the grief that he suffers. Many of us who lose our family members to such abominable violence would not be so charitable. By contrast, he maintains that the cycle of revenge must be broken and praises the European countries that have recognized the state of Palestine. View his interview here:
