One thing I never understood, what was the arrangement between Pecker and Trump supposed to be? [1]

I’ve followed the trial with baited breath, only to fall asleep right before the verdict came in 🤬

One thing I didn’t understand was if Pecker bought a story, was Trump supposed to pay him/AMI back? They bought they Playboy model’s story and the Doorman’s. Were they supposed to get paid back and that was why Pecker declined to buy Stormy’s story because he got stiffed twice already?

I mean AMI is running a business and they aren’t going to throw money away and not get something in return. Or was it just goodwill? I remember something from the Washington Post mentioning a reimbursement arrangement for AMI, but haven’t heard any collaboration elsewhere.
