Billionaire Bribery for Climate Action [1]

"At a Dinner, Trump Assailed Climate Rules and Asked $1 Billion From Big Oil" (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/09/climate/trump-oil-gas-mar-a-lago.html?u2g=i&unlocked_article_code=1.xE0.hTNf.-XNlfnXiRcJL&smid=url-share) according to the NYTimes and other sources.

In response, if I were a climate billionaire, I'd call his bluff and offer him $2 billion dollars to work on climate change. After all, as the old joke goes, we know exactly what he is, all that remains is determining the price.

Here are some billionaires who publicly believe that climate change is human-caused and actually happening:

Elon Musk $251 B

Jeff Bezos $161 B

Warren Buffett $121 B

Bill Gates $111 B

Mark Zuckerberg $106 B

Michael Bloomberg $96.3 B

John Doerr $10.7 B

Mark Cuban $5.2 B

Steven Spielberg $4.8 B

Richard Branson $2.6 B

Tom Steyer $2 B

One of the wealthiest (looking at you Elon, Bill, or Michael) could put up the $2 billion all by themselves. A consortium of them would be even better and could probably match and better anything the fossil fools would spend.

If nothing else, such a proposal would make a good full page ad or 30 second commercial to stir the pot and make the obvious explicit.
