IAN:Thursday 6/6/2024 Picture Heavy Diary-Quilt Show [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-05 This is going to be heavy with pictures. I hope you enjoy them. The show was great, everyone had a fine time, I sold some purses and Bill sold some lathe turned sewing tools. I also won 2nd prize on a challenge quilt but I have no picture of that! Of Course. I tried to name both quilts and artists. As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! Monday Youffraita Tuesday: bigjacbigjacbigjac Wednesday Pam from Calif Thursday art ah zen Friday FloridaSNMOM Saturday FloridaSNDad Sunday loggersbrat All the spaces at the show had multiple quilts hanging in them. Some at odd angles, others over part of another. The one on the edge is steam punk birds made from sewing machine parts. The panel was so cute that I made a raffle basket with it and accompanying fabrics and the winner Sandy Miller, made this wonderful quilt! My BFF Margie made the next one to it with the birds. Her husband suggested the birds needed branches to sit on and she made and appliqued them too. My Geisha and Kimono quilt hangs on the edge but you can see some of a lot of the squares. The other quilts were made by my guild sisters of course but I can not name them all but 206 was by Diane Pagenkopp, 115 by Christie Foster and 145 by Kathy LaBerteaux. This space had Halloween quilts, including my Witching Hour in the lower middle. The quilt on the end was made by Shirley Barnett, is hand embroidered and colored with crayon. You should have seen it live. 46 was made by Maire Bourke. Happy Halloween was made by Sheila Lazarus. This space was under the sea quilts and Serina the Mermaid was so cool and made by Debbe Bartlett. My steam punk octopus is on the end of this space which had the other under sea motifs. Here is my last bookcase and the quilt with the wavy lines is mine too, called Circle Pizazz in Space. Dragonflies was spectacular to see, made by Debbe Bartlett. Oh, the little one on the bottom is one of mine too, called Spider Webs in the Cathedral Windows. This one is called Steppin Out by Barbara Augustine. So cute! This beauty is called La Passacaglia by Diane Moser. I think it won 2nd place. Here is Bill at his vendor space, showing the woods he uses and what is left of his inventory. He did well and took some commissions that he has been doing since the show. My friendship quilt is hanging in the middle of the star space. Lots of lovely work there. My quilt was a block of the month challenge that I got when the winner had passed and we were cleaning out her studio. I was happy to make it so that the people who contributed to it could see it got done. The Festival of Books is by Linda Duncan. Both Galaxy quilts were by Denise Rifilato. This is the Christmas space with my Home for Christmas quilt in the middle on the bottom. The dark burgundy and beige on the top left edge is beautiful, made by Christine Foster. There are also my two Denim City wall hangings right above my Christmas quilt. I saw folks taking pix of them which surprise me a bunch. This was my set up with my purses, next to Bill’s table. Lil Zen scored this display stand for free at REI and it worked great. I sold 7 or 8 purses I think. All that money goes to the guild to support our future. There were 300 quilts so this is just a sample. I hope you liked the tour. Come back in 2 years for the new show, already in the works even if we don’t survive that long as a guild. We are aging out, as are so many guilds.
