A Massive Reclassification of Long-Covid [1]

In the course of this recent week, Dr. Al-Aly has spoken with the SSA, and was able to come to a conclusion with them, that Long-Covid is to be classified as a chronic medical condition has spoken with the SSA, and was able to come to a conclusion with them, that Long-Covid is to be classified as a chronic medical condition. This is huge for those like myself who have survived a Covid infection, but have been suffering long-term complications. While the doctor has stated he and the medical field are still learning more about the long-term effects and possible treatments, this will be a new factor for anyone applying for disability (or appealing like I am) due to not being able to work or even do much around the home because of the fatigue or heart issues induced (or other things such as pulmonary complications).

The reason I had to post this, as due to a friend linking me to this Twitter/X thread, knowing what I've been going through for over a year. I had been infected by the virus working at the airport in Orlando in 2023, and have been having issues that at least require being on beta blockers (arrhythmias, bradycardia, and not being able to be on my feet from it due to dangerous amounts of disorientation from related heart palpitations).

If anyone here on DKos is dealing with long covid and is applying for disability/appealing a denial, or know others with it who are, make sure you have your infections documented, as well as ALL medical visits related to post-infection symptoms. It may not end the suffering, but knowing it's classified as a chronic condition by the SSA gives some hope for those who can't work anymore as a result.
