I found an unwelcome letter in my afternoon mailbox yesterday. The return address was 310 First Street S.E. in D.C., and my address appeared on the front of the envelope as having been printed on an inkjet printer with the ink tank dangerously approaching black ink depletion… a real low-budget operation.

Yup — It was from “President” Donald J. Trump.

I suspect that they got my name and address from any one of a number of recently compromised, stolen data breaches (since republicans don’t know how to do anything through lawful, legitimate channels); I have nothing whatsoever to do with the fascist movement in this country on any level, so it isn’t as if selecting me for a fascist campaign donation would ordinarily be low hanging fruit for them.

Out of morbid curiosity I opened the envelope and read the contents. As expected the letter from Trump (or written by some literate surrogate who created the content) was filled with invectives, outright lies and perjurious defamations that could only come from the mind of a Fourth Reich wannabe.

After I calmed down and let my blood pressure return to a reasonably healthy level, I decided to respond to their attempt at raising funds from me. I wrote the following letter and enclosed some of my very realistic and appropriately marked paper stage money:

I have a few observations regarding your RNC letter from Trump that asks for donations to his election campaign. Trump is no longer “President” Trump - in fact he isn’t “president” of much of anything these days. Please refrain from assigning him a title he no longer holds or deserves. And considering that he is a convicted felon, doing so is disrespectful to a leadership position worthy of far more dignity than Trump accorded it during his White House occupation.

The collection of misinformation and flagrant lies contained in Trump’s letter are a vulgar attempt to make otherwise intelligent, well-read people who love this country ignore facts and subject themselves to Trump’s kind of neo-Nazi anarchistic slavery. Such dreck and the accusations it contains is un-American and slanderous.

To this day I still puzzle over Trump’s need to proselyte for votes and beg for campaign donations when he himself claims to be a billionaire. Even if he chooses to refuse to use his own resources, he enjoys the full faith and credit of the 1% of his fellow American billionaires and the unwavering support of the Russian Federation willing to give Trump everything he asks. Little people like us are still financially suffering from the aftermath of the effects that the pandemic (remember THAT?) which enabled the greedheads in America to make up their losses from 3 years of pandemic closures by jacking up the prices of everything sold in this country an average of 20% while employers let wages stagnate. Turnips don’t bleed as much as they used to; in fact we’re pretty anemic now. I pity people like you who labor under the delusion that Trump and his gunsels are passing off his deviant ideas as patriotism - it takes a soft touch to actually buy what he’s peddling. So I’m inclosing $350.00 worth of stage money for you to take to the nearest bank and attempt to deposit it into Trump’s reelection fund. I’m sure that those “evil socialist” bankers will treat it with all the legitimate value that your candidates bring to public office.

Don’t be surprised if you receive one of those postal turds from the RNC in your mailbox soon: I hear that in spite of the Koch family, Musk, Silicon Valley mavens and other Nazi supporters donating millions to his reich fund, they’re doing this as their own sort of polling to get an idea of their chances in November. You can choose to ignore them, or you can respond as I have. Either way, let’s give them a huge, resounding SAD.
