My district used to be represented by a Democrat, and then it was jerrymandered to throw the Dem out and elect the ever so useless (dis)Hon. Rob Wittman. I’m supporting Leslie Mehta in the primary. In addition to a cartoon this fine Saturday, here’s her new TV ad.

She’s a good egg and does real retail politics. A few months ago, I read a story about her and her daughter who was gravely ill as a small child. I dashed off an consoling email, and to my great surprise, she responded personally. Last week, she called—her, not a staffer—to ask me to attend a virtual rally. We talked at length about her running for Congress and what was important to me as a voter. She really listens.
