WYFP: Home Sweet Home? [1]

This week, my housing agency is driving me crazy. Last weekend, all weekend, every time I went downstairs to the pc room, I would come back up to find bed bugs in one corner of my mattress. It was the corner nearest the door. Come Monday and Tuesday (when the mgr was here) nothing. Wednesday (no staff in building) more bugs in just the one little corner. I’ve been taking pictures and told mgmt about it and requested a new lock on my door.

Unfortunately, Monday night, I found a letter from property mgmt on my door telling me

I had not recertified this year (It’s a tax thing) and this was my last warning and by the end of the month, they would begin eviction procedures.

The problem is, I did sign the recertification papers and I did it when the woman who supposedly put the notice on my door was in the mgr.’s office along with the manager.

I have not received any prior notice I’m not in compliance.

Our present manager has left (yesterday was her last day) and and I tried getting her supervisor’s phone number. I was told they can’t give out phone numbers but, I shouldn’t worry because “ she’s been in the organization for 7 years and no one has been evicted for not recertifying or not completing the paperwork”. no one has taken her place yet and I’m afraid I’m about to fall thru the cracks.

REACH CDC is under fire this week for messing up rent payments for about 15 tenants in another building, Allen Fremont Plaza Apartments. These are mostly elderly, Black tenants who have the paperwork to back up their claims they’ve been paying their rent but, have received eviction notices anyway.

I know kossacks love to help but this is not your problem to rectify. It’s Reach’s.

Thanks anyway, I will let you know if things get dire. I hope it doesn’t come to that.
