A slew of new takes on "Were you better off four years ago?" [1]

Apparently, Republican strategists believe they have a winning argument that will allow Trump to coast to victory in November. “Were you better off under President Trump than President Biden?”

Unfortunately for America, this slogan might be attractive to many voters. Obviously, it beats the slogan “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” (which refers backward to the first 5-10 months of the pandemic).

So, Democrats should be prepared with all of the following counter-slogans (and more...):

1. Will your democracy be better off after four (or fourteen) more years of Trump?

2. Were women’s reproductive freedoms better off after three right-wing Trump justices were appointed to the Supreme Court?

3. Wasn’t your family better off after 30 years of mostly Democrat rule (1937-1968) than they are now after 40 years of mostly Republican rule (1981-2020)?

4. Was your trade union better off under Republicans or Democrats?

5. Was the middle class better off after Trump’s (and Bush’s and Reagan’s) terms?

6. Has the wealth inequality gap improved in your lifetime (except slightly under Biden)?
