Music of 1970 [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-09 Here is the link to my previous Music of 1970 diary, posted in January of 2023: www.dailykos.com/… Feel free to go there and read about the many big things that were in the news in 1970. It was entertaining for me to read, and I’m the one who wrote it! Ha! So many folks like reading books. With all my diaries and comments here at Daily Kos over the years, since 2006, I have written a book of many pages, a book of many chapters. If I want to feel entertained, I can simply go back and read what I wrote! Ha! Anyway, feel free to post any song you like in the comments. Here we go: Walk a mile in my shoes = empathy. Seems to me. We always need to feel the empathy, rather than giving in to the dark side, the anger and the hatred. During some of my darker days of depression, after my wife, Tonia died on the 10th of March, 2022, I wanted to find some silly pop song to distract me. This one is the silliest, and it helped me. Lively and fun. Classic Motown music. That guitar solo! The rest of the song is just filler. Ha! Once again, the guitar solo dominates the song. But the singing is okay. Ha! Okay, this one makes me cry. I met my first wife, Pam, in 1972. We got married in 1977. Her mother embroidered on her wheelchair cover, the title of that song. This song is about a wedding, of a young couple. Pam was born disabled, that is why she had a decorated wheelchair. Pam died in 2008. Okay, just a week or two ago, one of my internet buddies from my grief support group educated me about this song. “25” is another name for LSD: en.wikipedia.org/… Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann first synthesized LSD in 1938 from lysergic acid, a chemical derived from the hydrolysis of ergotamine, an alkaloid found in ergot, a fungus that infects grain.[16][20] LSD was the 25th of various lysergamides Hofmann synthesized from lysergic acid while trying to develop a new analeptic, hence the alternate name LSD-25. So, the singer is asking himself whether he should take another dose of LSD at 4 AM? Or relax and call it good at the end of a ten-hour acid trip, that started the previous day at 6 PM? “25 (more LSD) or call it good after a trip of 6 PM to 4 AM?” Finally, after decades of listening to that song, and having no idea what it was about, finally, at the age of almost 69 years old, I got the memo. Ha! Easy come, easy go, easy listening. For real. I think what I like about this song, is that it is mainly all about the percussion and guitar, especially the percussion, and the singing of the love song, is just added in, to round it out. Nice, fun. Great! Fun, upbeat. I love it. Hey, this song gives us truly great instrumentals, for the first one minute and twenty seconds. Then, a little singing, just because we crave a little singing, in the middle of the song. Outstanding. Is that called, serious funk? And, I love those outfits! Great fun. I like the quality, and the style, of Neil Diamond. Actual hitch hiking seems way too dangerous. But, sitting in my home, listening to this song, feels good. This one is so mellow. One of my favorite easy listening songs. Beautiful. Very beautiful. I had forgotten how nice this one sounds. Okay, this song is so silly, so corny, but, it makes me think of Pam, and Tonia. They both put me on a pedestal, as if I am some grand, wonderful guy. So, this song makes me cry, since they both felt that way, about me. Okay, here is the link, again, to the January 2023 Music of 1970 diary: www.dailykos.com/… Feel free to post any song you like in the comments. Hugs!
