Of the four stories featured, two did not belong there, and one of the most importan stories was deep in the paper, though a two page spread. OJ Simpson’s Black golfing pals in Las Vegas were featured because they accepted him in their group. A Nevada elections official was profiled because of the harassment she has faced—an important issue, to be sure, though one that could be better treated by a broader story about the ongoing efforts to deny many the right to vote. Back in the paper, Alina Chan, a researcher at the Broad Institute, run by Harvard and MIT, presented a cogent case for why the pandemic originated in the Wuhan lab, with substantial funding from the US government for that perilous research conduced without adequate bio-safety measures.
