Credit card problems can come from the credit card companies, too [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-11 I have several credit cards that are serviced by CitiBank. I got an email from a gasoline card (which I have had for a couple of decades) stating that “our records indicate that we are missing information for one or more authorized users on your account.” When I logged in, it turned out they want birth dates and our physical address (I use a PO Box exclusively for all business accounts). They also wanted everyone’s birth dates. I called the customer service number, and was told they must have the physical address. I asked to speak with a supervisor (how very Karen of me!), and was told by him that this information was required by “the Credit Card Act and the Patriot Act.” I never heard of “the credit card act,” and the Patriot Act has been law since 2001, and they never needed this information before now. I am pretty certain that they want this information to sell to marketers. I told them I was not going to give them the information I don’t know if anyone else has run across this, but I thought I would flag it for the Kossacs.
