Injustice Has a Conservative Bias [1]

When Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, in a move that overrode the Constitution to deny former President Obama his Supreme Court Justice pick, it marked the beginning of the end of respect for the Supreme Court. As the Senate majority leader, McConnell invoked what he termed the “Biden rule,” A reference to a speech by the then-Senator and now-President Biden. In this speech, delivered in June of 1992, Biden stated, in part,

[ ] “…it is my view that if a Supreme Court Justice resigns tomorrow, or within the next several weeks, or resigns at the end of the summer, President Bush should consider following the practice of a majority of his predecessors and not — and not — name a nominee until after the November election is completed.”

Of course, the then Senator from Delaware did not call for the blockage of a nominee by Mr. Bush, and it was less than five months until the election in November of 1992 of Bill Clinton. Mr. McConnell shirked the Senate’s responsibility to advise and consent and refused to speak to Merrick Garland (Obama’s nominee) nine months before the next election. Of course, Mr. McConnell escalated his hypocrisy by pushing the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett two weeks before the 2020 election of, ironically, Joe Biden. McConnell was so brazen and proud of his chicanery in the Garland affair that he admitted it to Fox News’s Sean Hannity with a giggling wink and a nod.

Yesterday, Hunter Biden, the surviving son of Joe Biden, was convicted on three felony counts of lying on a government form to purchase a gun. Of course, the two-tier theory and Department of Justice bias were so shot full of holes the conspiracy changed direction. The reason conspiracies never die is that once exposed, the story changes. When Hillary Clinton's emails turned out to be pointless internal political chatter, it then became about her having re-classified documents. When the Joe Biden impeachment fever dream was cured with the cough medicine of the truth, it became about his family, his son, and his mere being. For weeks, the Republicans cried bloody murder and yelled “two-tiered” system over the Donald Trump election interference trial.

Now, the GOP and their hordes would have you believe President Biden is exposing his son to a possible 25-year jail sentence to distract from the Biden conspiracy to convict Mr. Trump. Remember, you are sane when your head stops spinning and you return to Earth. Words from political partisans and former GOP candidate for President, political ne’er-do-well Vivek Ramaswamy, who said, “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: the Hunter Biden trial was a sham. It’s a smoke screen to legitimize the Trump conviction & to deflect attention from the Biden family’s actual likely crimes: selling off our foreign policy to make their family rich. Don’t fall for it.” The reason conspiracy works is that no proof, documentation, or evidentiary debunking is needed for the faithful. Merely saying I believe it—is enough and saying the convinced might be wrong is just further proof of the collusion.

Republicans will keep their heads down, talk and walk faster, and keep yelling rigged. Quoting Mr. Ramaswamy, Don’t fall for it.
