Towards the middle of this story on Gen Z influencers being less enthused about voting for Biden is something pretty notable:

According to a recent poll conducted by Morning Consult, two-thirds of Gen Z voters — 67 percent — say Biden’s decision to back legislation that could lead to a TikTok ban has made them less likely to vote for him in November. Smaller groups say they have been turned off by the president’s handling of the war in Israel (46 percent) and Biden’s approval of new oil and gas drilling projects on federal land (38 percent).

Two-thirds! What in the fuck is Biden thinking here?

Yes, we’ve heard all about the idea that China will get some deeply important personal information about Americans by collecting data on what videos people watch. Of course:

Data privacy experts say, though, that the Chinese government could easily get information on Americans in other ways, including through commercial data brokers that sell or rent personal information.

I’ve long been a skeptic of this “oh no social media steals my data” panic. But this is a deeply absurd position for Biden to take. China isn’t getting anything special here.

And two-thirds of young people hate it! Why is this the hill that Biden wants to die on?
