Herr Drumpf fancies himself an accomplished stand-up comedian. These are his jokes, his “riffs.” I don’t see any other possibility. This explains the Grateful Dead-like devotion of his followers. It explains why his speeches are so repetitive. And why people like me find them mind-numbingly boring. This is their entertainment, the epitome of their culture. And really, it’s all they have. The shark vs. battery story is the perfect example. Drumpf thinks it’s funny. He thinks his delivery is masterful, and that everyone should marvel at his unique insight. That’s the point, I think, at least in what passes for his “mind.” Like other comedians, he’s trying to sell the joke (much like he tries to sell his other frauds). Only the joke ain’t funny, and the punchline is the convicted felon, even if he’s clueless himself. P.S. I took the photo when I was at Kilby Court for a Blac Rabbit gig in 2019...I think. That’s what the metadata says, anyway.
