Something sad and alarming at a comedy club [1]

Something happened to me this weekend that has made me feel very sad and very down….

i am currently visiting NYC to see some family I haven’t seen in a while…which is lovely (I always loved the city but haven’t been since COVID)….and while I have been insisting on wearing a mask on the subway, the city has been wonderful in every other way! So far we have been to the Met (my favorite),the Guggenheim, and the MOMA. We also had a really delicious dinner.

Some of my relatives wanted to go to a comedy show….i hadn’t been to a comedy show in decades and I thought it sounded fun.

when we got to the show, we were sat near the back and ordered our drinks…there were three comics performing, two men and one woman…and they were very funny

until they got political.

ALL three, including the female comic, used at least a third of their routine to make fun of President Biden. The woman actually MOCKED HIS POSTURE and made squinting faces when she pretended to talk like him. One of the man comedians actually went so far as to make a joke about our president….the leader of our country and a good and decent man…dying before the election..

and the crowd loved it.



they were HOWLING laughing at these disgusting jokes. I could not believe what I was seeing…at first I figured maybe they were laughing at a distasteful one-off-joke but it soon became very clear to me that the crowd was actively enjoying the Biden-bashing..,.in NYC!!! I find it hard to imagine this was a MAGA crowd and in fact it at least looked like a very diverse crowd. And yet they were laughing at the idea

of our only chance at saving democracy dying, at how he talks, at exaggerated, disgusting demonstrations of how he is aging. What is wrong with people?????

it made me feel very sad and very down.

vote blue 2024!!!!
