[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-16 While many of us know Mike Johnson as speaker of the house, some here seem to forget the very popular musical and philanthropic career he had before this. Did you know Mike Johnson was a singer and had a number one record? In fact, there were many popular recordings of his singing. You can Google it. Mike Johnson started singing at a very young age with his family. But his career really took off when he went out on his own and released his first solo album. I don’t know how many platinum albums he had, but it was many, many. You wouldn’t know it from the way he just stands there as second banana to Trump in front of the cameras, but Mike was quite the dancer too. Nobody’s ever seen moves like his before, and I mean nobody. He made up dance moves that are still iconic today. He’d go bing bing bing bop pow, and the audiences would go wild. Mike was more liberal back then, donating money to a hospital in Culver City, California to have a burn unit named after him. Kind of a sucker, but at least he got something named after him. People should name things after me. He co-wrote a song which made $63 million for the poor. $63 million, not a lot to me, but to some people it is more than they’ll ever see. And then he donated that money like a progressive! That record was one of the best selling singles of all time; and he just gave it away. To look at him now, you would have never know Mike Johnson was so liberal. And though most of us don’t remember, he won a Grammy for song of the year for that record. Johnson’s philanthropic activities went beyond just monetary donations. He also performed at benefits, some of which he arranged. He gifted tickets for his regular concert performances to groups that assist underprivileged children. He visited sick children in hospitals all around the world. He opened his own home, which was quite large, maybe even 30,000 sq ft, for visits by underprivileged or sick children. Johnson was even recognized by Ronald Reagan for his support of alcohol and drug abuse charities. So what happened to Mike Johnson? He finally wised up… Oh, wait, did I say Johnson? I meant Jackson. Jackson/Johnson, Mike/Michael — What’s the difference, really? Who can even remember all these names? Did I tell you I passed a cognitive test? Very very hard. I aced it. Mike Johnson and I were friends. I remember what he used to say to me, he said “Sir”, and he had a tear in his eye, “Sir, Don’t stop ’til you get enough.” He never said what I shouldn’t stop, but I assume he was referring to being a smooth criminal. Did I tell you the story about the shark and the battery?… [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2024/6/16/2246971/-People-Used-to-Love-Mike-Johnson-What-happened?pm_campaign=front_page&pm_source=trending&pm_medium=web Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
