Pioneer Village: Some businesses (photo diary) [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-17 The Pioneer Village, which is a part of the Cashmere Museum in Cashmere, Washington, consists of twenty cabins whose furnishing illustrate pioneer life. Included in the Village are several businesses which would be typical in a pioneer village. Shoes, Boots and Saddles Millinery Shop According to the display: “Normally these shops were owned by women shopkeepers who made the hats by hand and supplied all the accessories; feathers, flowers, lace, etc. that were necessary to construct the beautiful hats the women so enjoyed.” Print Shop Shown above is a Chandler & Price printing press which was originally patented in 1885. A good printer can print over 1,500 sheets per hour. (Note: I have actually operated this type of press.) Shown above are the type cases.
