Hard to believe, here we are, nearly to the Summer Solstice and I’m still running heaters! Yesterday and today, our highs in North Central Montana didn’t even reach 50 degrees!! Some Winter days are warmer than that! Add to it over an inch of rain here and 8 inches of heavy wet snow about the 6,000’ mark in the mountains! I have a dental appointment in Helena today and I might not get home in time for this to publish or I might be too tired, I will try to check in.

Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday. On June 17, 2021, it officially became a federal holiday. Juneteenth 2024 will occur on Wednesday, June 19.

June 19th, the day before Summer Solstice and I’ll be cuddling my cats and a heater and maybe I’ll celebrate with a hot chocolate!
