Why is the Supreme Court taking so long to rule on the “presidential immunity” case?

A cynic might say that they’re stretching out the case as a favor to a criminal ex-President who they’d like to see get back into the White House.

If you don’t want to be a cynic and want to give the SCOTUS the benefit of the doubt; the only other explanation for the long delay is this: The question of “presidential immunity” is sooooo complicated that it’s taking these great legal minds a super long time to figure it out.
