Eli Crane on IVF [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-20 By Pinetop John for Arizona Eagle PAC The mistaken idea that life begins at conception is a religious belief not an actual fact. An embryo is not a live person. To illustrate… If I was a chicken farmer and I ordered 1000 live chicks, they better not show up as fertilized eggs. The question is "is an embryo a person." The answer is not yet. An embryo may grow into a person, but it's not a sure thing. To earn the status of personhood, the embryo has to survive and attain the status of viability. There are many, many things that can happen to a five-cell embryo before it becomes a fetus, much less a person. The belief that it is already a human being with rights requires religious faith. An embryo is a potential person, but not an actual person, not yet. The establishment clause of the US Constitution gives us the right to practice any religion, or practice no religion at all without government interference. Just because they believe that an embryo is a person doesn't make it true nor does it give them the right to legally impose their beliefs on the rest of us. It is right there in the First Amendment. There are couples who have problems with fertility and want to have babies. Presently they can go to an IVF clinic and ask for scientific help. If an embryo is granted personhood that whole process would stop. The end result would be less life, less families, and less living babies. An embryo is the start of a person -- a potential person, but it's not a real person that deserves rights. That's the premise of the entire discussion. The right wingers are trying to introduce personhood legislation throughout the nation. It's unconstitutional. If IVF is banned it'll be counterproductive toward the introduction of new life, and it is against the First Amendment of our Constitution. They are not the party of small government like they claim to be. They are the party of limiting power and control so they can have more themselves. They must be stopped. And one local politician that loudly promotes this phony belief is Arizona Congressman Eli Crane. At Arizona Eagle PAC, we are devoted to defeating Eli Crane and restoring our belief in real leadership here in Arizona. Because Arizonans deserve better and his direct threats on our democracy and Constitution are un-American. We need your help to make sure he isn’t re-elected. Please donate today to help us kick Crane out of office. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/arizona-eagle-pac-1 Thanks, AZ Eagle PAC [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2024/6/20/2247617/-Eli-Crane-on-IVF?pm_campaign=front_page&pm_source=trending&pm_medium=web Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
