IAN: June 23, 2024 - I'm losing track of the primaries [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-22 Most of them are done, right? As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! ************************* Ten million fruit bats. Algarve Carrot Salad, recipe from American Vinegar Works. What ‘stat’ means and why it is used. How actors remember their lines. An Italian geologist believes she has identified where the Mona Lisa was painted. Psychedelic Christianity? A taco stand in Mexico City has received a Michelin star. Eleven uses for castor oil. Most of these are vouched for fairly widely. Army ants on a rampage. Copycat snack recipes. Fossilized spider, 308 million years old. ************************* This has been a fairly slow week. The big news is that on Thursday, my cane slipped on a bit of grease I missed when I was cleaning up by my kitchen trash a few days back, and I fell. Got right back up — didn’t have any problem doing it, or any pain. Yes, the exercises are working. I am finally getting into the Middle-Aged Fairy Godmother trilogy that I checked out for my Kindle sometime last year. The first book is “Stinking Beauty”. It’s the sort of thing I have to be in the mood for, and I am now, so I’m reading them finally. My chiropractor approves of my improvement. She says I should use the hiking poles more often than the cane because I tend to lean over when I use the cane and that isn’t good. Balancing my checkbook ended up a penny off. I started back through to figure out what happened and it turned out to be the very first thing I looked at. For budgeting purposes, I tend to record things at least one month ahead, frequently two, sometimes three. The deposit in question is usually a specific amount, but it can vary by a couple of cents, and that’s what happened this time. ************************* Love you guys!
