Democracy, Teens and Adults, Males and Females, Religionism, and Institutional Thinking [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-24 I wanted to combine some thoughts about democracy, teens and adults, females and males, religionism, and institutional thinking. Let’s start with democracy, where each of us hope to have a lifetime of opportunities to be what nature made us to be, including looking around at everyone else to see how we may fit into the world. Democracy is something that we pay forward, making improvements so that future generations will be able to improve on what we have done. At some point, we can expect there to be worldwide democracy that does not change much over time. We can be certain that many people from earlier generations, including earlier generations of Americans, would gladly give up an arm and a leg to live in the democratic nations of today. Likewise, we can be certain that many people from today, if we are successful in achieving stable, global democracy, would give an arm and a leg to live in that generation. Although that is not to be, those future generations will feel gratitude to us - recent generations, past, present, and future - for overcoming the inhumanity of authoritarianism. Although children are too young to impact democracy, except in their futures, teens and adults, females and males, are able to impact democracy. The complexity of this is that all people need to be willing to fight for democracy, and all people need to be willing to die for democracy, and at this point in time there is institutional thinking that decreases the percentage of females willing to do so. Also, because males are more willing to fight and die for democracy, democracy’s enemies work extra hard to corrupt males into being willing to accept authoritarianism. Until current conservatism became popular, religionism was neutral towards democracy. However, as religionism has become less believed, a part of religionism has been corrupted to work against democracy by focusing on the authoritarian aspects of religionism. People of religion who support democracy need to unite with those having an absence of religion who support democracy. The important thing here is for each person to live as they believe, withing the constraints of a democratic world. It will be difficult for each side of the religionism/absence of religionism divide to focus on attacking authoritarianism, not each other, but we can and will do that. Lastly, institutional thinking can be a great thing. Driving our cars is the strongest example of the value of institutional thinking that I can think of. It is valued because of all the bad things that happen when people don’t drive the way they are expected to drive. We have some people in society who are institutional in thinking that authoritarianism is acceptable, and that is driven by the enemies of democracy, whether they be Hitler, Mao, Putin, Xi, Murdoch, Trump, or a number of fascist billionaires. When future generations look back at this time in history, they will be grateful we fought and won.
