[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-24 I have written previous diaries on my long stay in the hospital at the beginning of this year that started with a case of MRSA that led into me getting 3 more infections in the span of less than a month that capped off with surgery that led to me being hospitalized for months. These diaries can be found here and here As of Friday the 14th I am home, but its been difficult getting back to my normal routine because I still have problems to deal with… including not being able to wear anything over my bottom except to go to Doctor’s appointments until the surgeon says I can as there may still be micro openings in the closed wound. I have to remember to carry this donut cushion with me everywhere to sit on around the apartment. I have days where I cannot sleep and other days where I cannot stay awake. Before I went into the hospital I was pre-diabetic and had been for over a decade, I made sure I kept up with my meds and tracking my blood sugar to keep from going into diabetic ranges… unfortunately the time in the hospital on all the steroids and antibiotics to deal with 4 back to back infections and a later fifth infection in a broken tooth… left me now having to inject myself with insulin three times daily, and I’ve been bruising my leg a lot. I also have to make sure to clean the closed wound bed four times daily twice with antiseptics and twice with alcohol. I can’t use toilet paper and have to rely on a mix of my bidet and personal wipes, which are more expensive than toilet paper… and I have to rely on food delivery services because I can only wear bottoms when going to appointments until the doctor clears me. I have a lot of things I need to take care of because of being in the hospital for so long and it delayed plans that I had for this year. I am a polyamorous lesbian and I had plans to visit two of my girlfriends this year before moving in with another girlfriend, but due to being hospitalized I’ll probably only be able to visit one of them and will need more help with the move as I lost a lot of strength in the hospital. I was also in the process of getting back on disability, i have ptsd which makes it hard to be around people I don’t know… which trust me being in the hospital did not help that at all… I lost my disability due to not making it to an appointment due to having spent some time homeless after fleeing a dangerous situation, and the renewal got put on hold while in the hospital and its really hard to get ahold of the disability people sometimes. So that’s now taking longer. Still thanks to my friends, family, and my girlfriends, I am slowly getting back into normal life even if it now has more naps, having to sit on pillows, bruising my legs with insulin, and an annoying cough they say will likely stay with me due to the Covid. I plan on doing a much more lighthearted diary for the end of the month about a bunch of LGBT stuff, like gushing about my girlfriends, to celebrate pride, but I needed to mention being out of the hospital and the relief from that first.
