How Biden Can Deal with Trump Lies and Get His Own Points Across [1]

Biden faces a double task in the debate: dealing with the torrent of Trump lies and making his own points. There has been much handwringing on how there isn’t time to do both. But there is a solution.

A team of experts, say at whitehouse.gov, can debunk every Trump lie quickly. Most of the lies are predictable and stale. Every time Trump stops speaking, Biden can simply say “Twenty-Three Trump lies in the last two minutes. Go to whitehouse.gov/TrumpLies to get every lie debunked in real time”. The rest of Biden’s time, he can use to make his own points (climate, abortion, IVF, contraceptives, democracy, veterans aren’t suckers, and so much else). Biden will be extremely well prepared, like he was at the State of the Union and at Normandy. He’s got this, as long as he refers to his online team to do real-time debunking of the torrent of Trump lies. Stop the handwringing!

A nice twist on this strategy would be for Biden to get listeners glued to whitehouse.gov/TrumpLies only when Trump is speaking and listen to Biden when he is speaking. Perhaps Biden’s reference to whitehouse.gov/TrumpLies is best given just as Biden finishes each turn to speak. Perhaps Biden’s online team should make clear that no updates will come when Biden is speaking, so people will listen to Biden and look at the debunking website only when Trump is speaking.
