Derange Trump (further) by changing the frame from "he lies" to "he can't remember." [1]

A quick thought to share, for other’s reactions.

Everything about memory and its easy recall has to do with the story (or, as Lakoff says, the frame).

I think a much better frame for Trump’s lying is to just say all the time “He can’t remember what he said.” Lying, to many people, is a sign of strength. Loss of memory is a sign of weakness.

Were I on the Biden debate team, for example, I would simply say “One of the problems with Trump is that he actually can’t remember what he said. First he’s proud of putting money into Covid vaccines, next he’s threatening schools with vaccine programs. He brags about infrastructure and can’t remember that he failed during his entire term to get a bill passed. He says he’ll have a new health care plan in two weeks, and can’t remember when another two weeks go by, adding up to years to two weeks with nothing to show for it. “ (It’s easy to add more)

Then every time he tells another lie, the easy response is “Once again, Trump can’t even remember what he said. But don’t worry, go to (website) where we’ve got his memory slips on video for all to see.

He can’t even remember what was in the cognitive test he keeps bragging about. He talks about whales — but there is no version of this test with a whale. He talks about “man woman person Tv camera,” but the goal of the test is to remember five unrelated words, like “man, apple, purple, mosquito, book”. And when he brags about doing this test in under 30 minutes? This test, to detect the onset of dementia, normally takes 5 minutes to complete. But, again, he can't remember.

Remember what I told you. After 2020, Trump snapped. He became even more unhinged, and he hasn’t been well hinged for a long time. Seriously, failing to make money in casinos? Bankrupt again, just like his university, his steaks, his vodka — and most importantly, his character.

And he’s getting worse by the week.

If he was your uncle, you’d call the doctor. If he sat next to you at a bar and started blithering on like he does, you’d walk away.

He can’t run a country. He showed that before, even though he doesn't remember. But we do. “

You all get the idea. I think this frame is particularly sticky (i.e., it lodges in your memory) because it connects immediately to all his mental aberrations and all his lies and puts them in a basket of dementia.
