[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-25 It’s here! It’s finally all here! Wheeliehouse is now officially a Sunshine Supervan ! Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this happen!!! The final piece finally arrived yesterday — ironically enough, the 15 ft. extension cords for the solar panel. They do seem to sell out of them quickly! The first part to arrive was the battery — the Ecoflow Delta Pro. I had to use my yard cart to get it from the porch stoop to the RV Although nominally portable, this thing is a beast. With 3.6kwh of capacity, it can recharge off ac power, off solar, off an EV charging station, or (with an adapter) off your vehicle battery while you’re driving — and they’re working on a wind power adapter. It has outlets for practically everything — usb-a, a fast charge, and usb-c ports, ac outlets, 12v outlet, and a 15v outlet which makes it completely plug-n-play for Wheeliehouse — no rewiring necessary! It also weighs a ton, so my son and George carried it inside and to the back room for me. Next to arrive was the solar panel — a 400w portable one that folds up for easy storage! I ran an afternoon test, and it got the battery from 20% to 80% charged in five hours. It seems to take about eight hours of prime sunlight to charge fully, which means it charges much faster than I go thru power. Yay! At some point I want to build it a wheeled stand so I can move it about easily and adjust the angle for optimal charging — right now my choices are flat on the ground or leaned up against Wheeliehouse. One more thing to add to the project list! When it’s not in use, it gets stored inside in a nice sturdy carrier. Eventually I’d like to get a small roof-mount panel, too, but this really is quite sufficient by itself! And it can be brought indoors during inclement weather to avoid potential damage. I like that :-) All folded up and stored! I have to decide exactly where it’s going to be stored indoors and build it a holder, to keep it secure while Wheeliehouse is on the road. Honestly, I am so pleased with this system. The design is really, really user-friendly — there is, for example, no way you can hook the solar panel up wrong. Literally. The positive cable can only connect to the positive output from the panel, and the same for the negative. Everything is solid, well-built, and very easy to use. Eventually I need to put a small channel in for the solar panel wires and the 15v RV power cord (right now I’m running them both thru the windows, lol!) but everything works exactly as it should and I can’t tell you how exciting it is! I can’t wait to take it for its first boondocking trial! Thank you thank you THANK YOU to everyone who made this happen!!!
