So, the ICC is at it again: Russian aggression will pay a price in international terms of jurisdiction. Russia won’t prosecute them of course, but Russian foreign policy will be an even harder sell for Lavrov and his ministry. Furthermore, HIMARS seems to be an utter success while Russian (sappers) underestimated a minefield and caused heavy casualties.

A top international court has issued arrest warrants for Russia’s former defence minister and a leading general over attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine. The Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC) said Sergei Shoigu, the former Russian defence minister, and General Valery Gerasimov are suspected of having committed war crimes and crimes against humanity for directing attacks against civilians and civilian objects in Ukraine.

The International Criminal Court on Tuesday said it had issued arrest warrants for Russia's top army chief and ex defence minister over strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure that constituted alleged war crimes. The ICC warrants are the latest in a series of actions by the court over the Ukraine war, including an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin. The warrants, issued on Monday but made public on Tuesday, concerned the Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, and former defence minister Sergei Shoigu.

Ukraine destroyed columns of waiting Russian soldiers with HIMARS, a Ukrainian commander said.

He said Ukraine targeted them as soon as it got permission to use allied weapons across the border.

Military experts say Ukraine's ability to use Western-supplied weapons in Russia is aiding its fightback. Ukraine has been able to destroy columns of Russian soldiers after it got permission from its allies to use their weapons to strike military targets across the border into Russia, a Ukrainian commander has said.
