[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-27 We have been inundated with Republican ads for Governor in St. Louis. The Republican ads for Governor that I have seen generally talk about controlling China, securing the border, eliminating fentanyl, and other hot button issues that have nothing to do with what being a state governor entail. About Bill Eigel ad A campaign ad from Missouri gubernatorial candidate Bill Eigel emphasizes conservative values while unapologetically promising that the state senator will “fight Washington” and its progressive agenda as governor in order to “save Missouri.” “Here in Missouri we believe in boys and girls, not its, they or thems. We worship God, not abortion. We cling to guns, not government. And we know where illegal immigrants belong — the hell out of here.” Mike Kehoe promises to secure the border. Video ad. The Republican Governor’s races are close. Kehoe, the former owner of a Jefferson City car dealership, has campaigned as a supporter of farmers and ranchers, veterans and first responders. He has accumulated endorsements from major statewide groups, including the Missouri Farm Bureau, the Missouri Hospital Association and the Missouri Chamber of Commerce PAC. The main PAC supporting Kehoe has also received major contributions from St. Louis philanthropist and Republican mega-donor Rex Sinquefield, including a $1 million donation earlier this month. Rex Sinquefield amassed a fortune by doing nothing. Well, not exactly: In the 1970s, he pioneered the first index funds, investment vehicles that strictly track a broad portfolio of financial assets, such as the S&P 500, leaving no room for individual error or hunches. But he prefers his politics a lot less passive: The 69-year-old retired multimillionaire is now betting that he can pick political winners and losers back in his native Missouri. In Missouri, where the hundred-dollar campaign checks that were long the norm are being replaced by Sinquefield’s six-, seven- and even eight-figure donations, he has fundamentally transformed the state’s sleepy politics in less than a decade. And no ads for Lucas Kunce for US Senate. I attended an event for Lucas Kunce for US Senate and donated to his campaign, but have yet to see an advertisement for him on TV. Sen. Josh Hawley, a Republican, holds a comfortable lead over Democrat Lucas Kunce in the poll. In the poll of 1,000 respondents, 47% said they support Hawley and 38% said they support Kunce. The results came with a margin of error of plus or minus 3%. Not until just before the first week of absentee ballot voting in Missouri have I seen any Democratic TV ads for Missouri governor. This ad is for Mike Hamra. This week, Springfield's Mike Hamra became the first Missouri Democrat running for governor to release a TV ad ahead of the August primary. The ad shows Hamra interacting with employees, who take turns explaining benefits provided by the company. For example, Hamra Enterprises provides tuition assistance for college, rewards student workers for good grades, offers healthcare and retirement benefits to full-time workers and helps employees buy their first homes. The quarterly campaign finance reports filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission show Hamra had raised by April more than $1.2 million, contributing at least $500,000 to his own campaign. Crystal Quade, running for Governor, is already in the Missouri House. I am bombarded by emails from her campaign, but I have never seen an advertisement from her. At the same point in April, Quade had raised nearly $747,000. ICYMI, Rex Sinquefield is trying to eliminate all taxes on businesses and force the public to pay for everything. The ballot drive is the brainchild of Rex Singuefield, a wealthy investor who wants to eliminate the city's earning tax as well as the state's income tax. Sinquefield has proposed increasing sales taxes to make up for the loss of the income taxes. In St. Louis, the earnings tax provides about one-third of the city's budget. "This dangerous and misguided initiative to eliminate over one-third of the funding St. Louis needs for basic services like fire fighters and police officers will devastate our city. It will devastate public safety," Incidentally I am seeing ads for Cory Bush and also getting flyers in the mail from her campaign. She is very progressive, but doesn’t seem to to anything for St. Louis citizens. She is also getting a lot of flack because of anti-Israel statements since the October 7th attack on Israel. I am also seeing ads for Wesley Bell, the current St. Louis County prosecuting Attorney running against Cory Bush as a Democrat. He is also a progressive, but also has a good reputation. Far-left Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) trails her Democratic primary challenger in Missouri, according to a new poll which months ago accurately predicted fellow “Squad” member Rep. Jamaal Bowman’s (D-NY) crushing defeat. The Mellman Group survey of 400 voters in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District, released Wednesday, has Bush 1 point behind St. Louis County prosecuting attorney Wesley Bell ahead of the Aug. 6 primary. Bell also holds advantages over Bush in terms of his job rating and the strength of his support. Bush was an early supporter of a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war and has been critical of the Jewish State in the aftermath of the Oct. 7, 2023 terrorist attack. There are attack ads against Wesley Bell because he is getting support from many Republicans, Sorry, I can’t find it online to show you. IMO, they are implying that Wesley Bell is really a Republican, so all those black people in the 1st District won’t vote for him..
