[1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-28 IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! We have made it yet again, through another week, and here we sit once more together, each in our own home, and yet gathered together, by words on a screen. For all its ills and evils, there is good born from the internet as well. This place, and the friendships we create here, prove as much. More than 20 years ago, Mom and I joined a text based role playing game together. Together, we created our characters, and began to forge stories, and relationships, not least, our own. We grew, we changed, and so did the game over the years. As time passed, we made friends, both in character, and out, people that we invited into our lives together, and separately. The game, and the people with whom we created the stories within, helped us to become the people we are. Over the years, we have lost many people, who died along the way, and in the game their memories live on. Unfortunately, only a few days ago, we lost the man who imagined, and created the game itself. He was a complicated person, and so often kept himself apart, rarely seen within the game itself, but always working behind the scenes to make the game itself better for those of us who played it. His passing was, as so many are, unexpected, but it came for him, as it does for all of us. He and I often had our differences, and our personal friendship had become strained over the years, and yet I mourn his passing, and I am glad that he was in our lives. Now, we wait to see what his passing will mean for the game he created, and we still play. There is some fear that the game itself will end. I hope that this is not the case, but whether it is, or no.. I miss my friend, and I grieve for his wife, and family. ~Rest well my friend… We go on.
