GOOD PRESIDENT. BAD DEBATE. [1]

Biden is a good president who had a bad debate .

Immediately after, if not during, political journos found their phones a-buzzin’ with panic from professional Democratic pols, staff members, and other denizens of the Hill. Those folks are scared for their future careers, and cannot stomach a situation in which the coattails they thought they’d be riding might not be strong enough to carry them over. It’s natural for them to worry— but whatever they say about Biden, mostly they are worried for themselves.

And their press contacts,members of a profession that no longer even attempts simplistic explanations of policies or bills but feels supremely confident to treat politics as theater performance, cannot be counted on to see that panic for what it is: the panicked are their contacts and sources and friends.

But we Democratic Party voters have the same overriding task before us today that we had prior to the debate: preserving our democracy by defeating Donald trump and his entire party of enablers, the Republicans.

The remote likelihood of replacing Biden now with ???, by means unknown and unplanned, through a party organization explicitly dedicated to the winner of the primaries-- now mostly past, and all won by Biden-- is just the sort of late nite bull session poly-sci majors might get into after hoisting a few, but it is otherwise unhelpful and even destructive.

Biden is not going to quit. Biden is the nominee.

Vote the Democratic Party ticket— local, state and federal!
