IAN: June 30, 2024 - The year's half over now [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-29 I do find myself wondering a bit where it went. As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news! ************************* Pink noise, along with some others. White noise has competition. Dump dinners. How annual migrations help spread bird flu. I don’t much care for strawberries, but a lot of people do. Enjoy. Mushroom hunters in Thailand found a carving of a woman. Speculation about the carving and its age is, to put it mildly, rampant. Popcorn chicken recipe from Eating Well. This is from May, but I only just saw it. Mattel has announced that nine women sports stars are getting their own Barbie dolls. Honey Sesame Feta Bites. Recipe from Eating Well. The recipe includes a spicy sweet dipping sauce. Good news for honeybees in Europe. A safe way to off one of their predators has been found. Fungus against plastics. This was the basis of the plot for an SF book I bought new when it was published mass market and still have: The Man Whose Name Wouldn’t Fit. Halloumi Salad. Halloumi is a Greek cheese — Cypriot, the description says — that is quite tasty. It’s a bit expensive, but I’ve been known to buy it once or twice a year. ************************* Slow week. I did get some more cleaning done. My grandson finally settled on when he and I would go out to eat. Next Wednesday, for lunch. We had already settled on Thai food, so I am taking him to Siri Thai, which is quite good and not very far from where we live. I broke something I’d never actually used early last week. Actually, I don’t know how it fell off where it was sitting — it had been entirely stable for weeks and nothing that could have knocked it off was anywhere near it that I was aware of. The replacement arrived on Friday. ************************* When uncertain, when in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout. No, Chicken Little, the sky is not falling. I can’t say I’m thrilled with how President Biden did during the ‘debate’, but he certainly behaved better than any of the others. ************************* Love you guys!
