Unlike the NYT, the Philly Inquirer gets it right and tells tfg to drop out of the race [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-06-29 Looks like one major newspaper watched the debate and came to the correct conclusion. While many in the pundit class launched into a frenzied bout of pearl clutching and hand wringing afterwards, The Philadelphia Inquirer actually came to the correct conclusion. The editorial board stated what should have been obvious the minute tfg declared his candidacy (again) — that for the good of the country, he should drop out of the race: www.inquirer.com/… In fact, they argue that he is the only person who should drop out of the race. Over the course of four horrible years, tfg made it crystal clear that he was horrifically unfit for office. Given the confines of an editorial piece, The Inquirer can only scratch the surface and hit the highlights (or lowlights) — the insurrection and pandemic, his felony conviction, the other indictments, the impeachments, absconding with classified documents, the rampant corruption. All of this is well known information and immediately disqualifying. Instead of reaching the logical conclusion that this man shouldn’t be anywhere near the presidency, the media has been asking other types of questions: Can he run for office if he’s convicted? Can he serve as president if he’s convicted? Can he run the country from jail? Astounding. How about telling him to drop out of the race — now. The Washington Monthly ran a piece telling tfg to drop out about a month ago but I haven’t seen a peep from most of the press otherwise: washingtonmonthly.com/… I’ll freely admit that I was very upset by Biden’s performance and so wish he’d done better. But I do think he’s done a very good job as president. As The Inquirer says: “Yes, Biden had a horrible night. He’s 81 and not as sharp as he used to be. But Biden on his worst day remains lightyears better than Trump on his best...There was only one person at the debate who does not deserve to be running for president. The sooner Trump exits the stage, the better off the country will be.” [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2024/6/29/2249807/-Unlike-the-NYT-the-Philly-Inquirer-gets-it-right-and-tells-tfg-to-drop-out-of-the-race?pm_campaign=front_page&pm_source=trending&pm_medium=web Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
