You Know, I Had A Bad Day Once [1]

No, it’s true. I have actually had a bad day.

I underperformed.

I made a mess of things that didn’t have to be messy.

I let people down who were counting on me to be my very best — and I wasn’t.

I don’t know what happened that day, but I blew it, and there was nothing I could do about it except pick up the pieces I had made from an unbroken whole, and try the next day to make it better.

And for the record, I felt terrible about it, and sometimes I still do.

Since that day, I have made even more mistakes. In fact, to this day I make mistakes all the time. And as a consequence, I have learned an important lesson:

Everybody. Fucks. Up.

Even you.

I’ll bet you’ve had a bad day, I’ll bet you’ve felt terrible about it, and I’ll bet you worked even harder afterwards to repair the damage, and to be tough enough on yourself to ensure you didn’t do it again. And if you’ve never had a bad day, that only means you’re young. Just wait. You will.

So buck up, little campers. Our President had a bad day, and he’s working hard to repair the damage. Give him a break, recognize his humanity, and offer him a hand by supporting him and encouraging everyone you know to vote Democrat up and down the ticket.
