March on the Court Building [1]

We could have done it earlier, but the immunity ruling is the perfect catalyst.

We could do it later, but it might be way more hazardous to later.

We could wait and see what Biden will do, but we can’t control what someone else will do and this is a moment for action.

We need to control what we control with collective action, and we need to do it now.

We need to coordinate it. I thought about straight up occupying the building, but there’s too much risk we lose the narrative that way. There are people on here who work for campaigns. We need to use this march as an opportunity to unite the direction wing of our coalition with the electoral wing. Get electeds to go to the thing, make speeches, sign people up in the crowd. Get a full three hundred and sixty degree perimeter around the building and get a drone shot of it being surrounded by people.

Transportation has never been easier (I said easier, not cheaper), but we should offer to pay for buses or gas if need be and start a list of who will volunteer as a driver.

Our demands should be clear: rein in the court. Pass something like the Parliament Act, underlining exactly who can and cannot govern. Easier to do then amending the Constitution. Expand the court. Arrest and prosecute the worst justices for ethics violations. If they’re not guilty, the evidence will show at trial. Make this a regular event on or near the end of every single court term until demands are met.

There’s a lot of outrage, plenty of folks will show up if we just pick a date and blast it everywhere. DKos should consider sponsoring the event or getting other progressive sites to sponsor it. Tons of groups would want to help for moral reasons and to meet potential volunteers.

If we’re lucky the DC police will erect the most ridiculous looking barriers around the court, more imposing than last time, it would be amazing optics.

This isn’t a would be nice to do. This is a have to do. The majority on this Court is an illegitimate, unelected, power hungry oligarchy. We must register, in no uncertain terms and in the loudest possible way, that we do not consent to be governed by them and we must use our collective power to ensure we are not governed by them.
