Please stop gaslighting us and shooting the messenger [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-07-01 I understand all Democrats want to support President Biden. I’ve been a voting Democrat since 1976. I watched the debate. It was beyond painful. I know what I saw. President Biden is clearly diminished, maybe severely so. Trying to downplay the performance or lack thereof and the obvious deterioration since 2020 is not helpful. It is reality and it needs to be dealt with one way or another. Reasonable people can disagree as to how to proceed. My view is that President Biden should elect not to run and endorse Vice President Harris and that she should pick a consensus Vice President. I have spoken with quite a number of Republicans and Independents in Arizona over the last few days, almost all of whom voted for Biden in 2020. They are all extremely disturbed by Biden’s performance and a number believe he is now incapable as serving as President, not just 4 years from now. They will not vote for Biden and may just leave the Presidential ballot blank. (The good news is that they appear to support Gallego for Senate.) You may not agree with what I am saying, but shooting the messenger does not help. If Biden is really capable of serving as President, he should make himself available for unscripted interviews with the press and go on talk shows to demonstrate his capabilities and he should do so now. In any event, I will support the Democrat ticket.
