Two Questions, Maybe Three [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.'] Date: 2024-07-01 I have two questions still unaddressed despite reading and watching much of the press coverage of today’s ruling from the majority of the Supreme Court: 1. How may this decision affect the impeachment of a president? Does a president now have immunity from impeachment for official acts, for example? 2. How does this decision affect cases pending or in the future brought in state courts under state law? In particular, I am thinking of the Fulton Co., GA, RICO case, but does this mean that potential indictments of Trump in fake elector cases are now impossible for state prosecutors to file? I suppose I also have a third question: is there any legislative or judicial remedy for this absurd ruling? Could a constitutional amendment limit or reverse it? Or are we stuck with it from now until an autocrat ends the American democratic experiment for good?
