Jack Loveridge appointed to District 3 on EPISD board [1] ['Claudia Lorena Silva', 'More Claudia Lorena Silva', 'El Paso Matters'] Date: 2024-04-11 Jack Loveridge has been appointed to the El Paso Independent School District’s Board of Trustees to fill the seat left vacant by former trustee Josh Acevedo, who was elected to the El Paso City Council in January. The board voted unanimously to appoint Loveridge during a school board meeting on Wednesday where he and the two other candidates — Jacob Aaron Waggoner and Rene Alberto Vargas — took part in interviews. The three candidates met with the community for the first time during a candidate forum on April 2 to answer questions and make their stance on why they should be chosen. Loveridge, 39, is the CEO for Panoculum, an El Paso-based startup that aims to build a digital platform using automated intelligence to archive people’s stories. He will represent District 3, which includes the Austin High School feeder pattern. Loveridge will be sworn in during the April 16 board meeting. The seven-member board is also in charge of adopting the district’s annual budget and tax rate. Trustees do not get paid and serve four-year terms. Trustee seats in Districts 1, 4 and 5 are also up for election next year. “I want to serve the community in any way that I possibly can. So I definitely plan to run,” Loveridge told El Paso Matters. Some of his top priorities for the district include financial solvency, keeping a high level of accountability, and strengthening relationships with military families, he said. Loveridge said he would also like to improve “avenues of communication with the public so that parents understand what district policies look like, so they understand that they have input – they have a say as well.” [END] --- [1] Url: https://elpasomatters.org/2024/04/11/episd-school-board-district-3-trustee-jack-loveridge/ Published and (C) by El Paso Matters.org Content appears here under this condition or license: Creative Commons CC BY-ND 4.0 International. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/elpasomatters/
