Playa Drain Trail Bike Ride SunCycle, El Paso’s first bicycle sharing program, is marking National Trails Day with a group ride Saturday, June 1, along the Paso del Norte Playa Drain Trail. Riders are asked to arrive at 8:30 a.m. for check-in at the Ascarate Park BCycle Station, 6920 Delta Drive. You can park inside Ascarate Park and walk to the meeting location. The ride begins at 9 a.m. and will last approximately 2.5 hours throughout the trail’s 16-mile expanse. Information: Cesar Martinez, 915-212-2453. Billy the Kid Festival The 16th Annual Billy the Kid Festival is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, June 1-2, at 1501 Main St. in San Elizario. The event features re-enactments of the famed outlaw’s efforts to help a friend escape from the old county jail along with live music and other entertainment, food and craft booths and the play, “Billy the Kid: 1876” at the main stage located on Main Street. Admission is free. (Courtesy Laura Turon) Paradox Immersive Art Gallery New Exhibits Three new exhibits are set to open at the Paradox Immersive Art Gallery this weekend with works by gallery founder Laura Turón and artists Isadora Stowe and Gitzel Moncisvais. Turón’s mobile gallery, known as the Paradox Bus, will showcase her work in a collection called “Enchanted Skies” that combines interactive projections with depictions of the northern lights she experienced while on an art residency in Iceland this spring. A collection of her photographs will also be on display. Opening night for the exhibits is from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at the gallery, 3915 Rosa Ave., near Lincoln Park. The gallery is open from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is $10. Information: Paradox Immersive Art “El Baile de los 41,” a pop-up exhibit at the El Paso Museum of History inaugurates this year’s Pride Month celebrations. (Courtesy El Paso Museum of History) ‘El Baile De Los 41’ Pride Pop-Up Exhibition The pop-up exhibit, “El Baile De Los 41,” at the El Paso Museum of History this weekend inaugurates this year’s Pride Month celebrations. The exhibit, Spanish for “the dance of the 41,” refers to a 1901 police raid of a clandestine ball in Mexico attended by 41 men who wore women’s clothing. The ball was penned as the “invention of homosexuality in Mexico.” The exhibit opens with a celebration of LGBTQIA+ artists in Mexico from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at the museum, 510 N. Santa Fe St. The exhibit will be on display through June 20 at the museum’s Juan and Linda Uribe Community Gallery. Free admission. Information: El Paso Museum of History ‘You’re Meant to Be Here’ Exhibit at Rubin Center Las Cruces-based artist and photographer Marcus Xavier Chormicle examines the legacies of masculinity within his family through his latest exhibit, “You’re Meant to Be Here With the Living,” at the Stanlee and Gerald Rubin Center for the Visual Arts at UTEP. Photographs mark personal landscapes, domestic interiors and reflections on violence, while other landscapes look at military histories, the center states on its website. An opening reception is set for 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 30, at the center on the University of Texas at El Paso campus, 500 W. University Ave. The exhibit will be on display through Oct. 5. Information: Rubin Center for Visual Arts Other events: The Sal y Limon Festival kicks off at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 1, along Mills Street in Downtown El Paso with lucha libre, mariachis, DJs and artists, and bands such as Strange Love and Kumbia Kings. Cool Canyon Nights continues this week with Azucar on the main stage and Abraham Marinelarena on the patio. The summer concert series is at 7 p.m. Thursdays at McKelligon Canyon, 1 McKelligon Canyon off Alabama Street. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the patio stage performance. The series runs through Aug. 1.
