President Biden to visit Philadelphia on Martin Luther King Jr. holiday [1]

We knew being a swing state with 19 electoral college votes was going to mean Pennsylvania would be popular in 2024, but this is getting a little silly.

After a whirlwind tour of small businesses in the Lehigh Valley on Friday, the president will visit Philadelphia on Monday, to mark the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday at food bank Philabundance, the White House confirmed Friday. The news was first reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer.

This will be the third time Biden has volunteered at Philabundance on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday; he visited with first lady Jill Biden in 2021 and in 2022.

Monday’s visit will be the third time the president has campaigned in the Keystone State in 2024, a year that readers may notice is barely two weeks old.

The president kicked off his 2024 reelection campaign in Pennsylvania on Jan. 5, giving an impassioned speech about the threats to American democracy if former President Donald Trump is elected to another term. “Today we’re here to answer the most important question. Is democracy still America’s sacred cause?” Biden asked the audience at Montgomery Community College. “It’s what the 2024 election is all about.”

Trump is leading all other GOP candidates for the party’s nomination, with the Iowa caucuses just days away.

Recent polling from Quinnipiac University showed Biden with a slight lead over Trump among Pennsylvania voters, with 49% polled saying they would support Biden and 46% supporting Trump.
