Idahoans urged to provide input on Idaho Historic Preservation Plan through survey • Idaho Capital Sun [1] ['Christina Lords', 'More From Author', '- April'] Date: 2024-04 Idahoans are urged to give feedback to help update the Idaho Historic Preservation Plan. Idaho State Historical Society Executive Director and State Historic Preservation Officer Janet L. Gallimore said in a press release that she is seeking public input on the plan, which was last updated eight years ago. Since that time, the population of Idaho has grown by over 250,000 people. The preservation plan establishes the priorities and goals for the historic preservation community throughout the state, according to the release. “This community includes individuals and organizations on all levels and of all types, not just the State Historic Preservation Office; it also includes Tribes, nonprofit organizations, private firms, government agencies, historic preservation commissions, owners of historic properties and individuals,” the press release said. The plan identifies priorities for historic preservation throughout Idaho, including the State Historic Preservation Office’s role to distribute funding to local governments throughout the state and to provide training to local historic preservation commissions. The State Historic Preservation Office will also schedule open houses in communities across the state to gather public input on state historic preservation plan updates. A web-based public survey is available to gather feedback on existing policies, programs and priorities. The survey will be open at least until June 1. The survey link is here.
