Brown in Glacier National Park in a suspected climbing fall, park officials said Wednesday in a news release. Glacier identified the man as Winslow Nichols, 19, whose body was recovered from the mountain. Mt. Brown is approximately 8,500 feet in elevation with mixed snow and rocks at the top. At roughly 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, Glacier dispatch received a missing person notification from a concerned friend who lost contact with his climbing partner, the park said. Glacier said the two men planned to hike and climb Mt. Brown together but became separated. In response, rangers launched a search and found a vehicle at Lake McDonald Lodge matching the description provided by the friend, and ground crews searched the nearby area, the park said. Two Bear Air conducted an air search and around 7 p.m., located Nichols, who was deceased. “The exact circumstances leading to Nichols’ death are unknown, however rangers suspect he fell while climbing,” the park said. The park said no foul play is suspected, and the death remains under investigation by Glacier law enforcement rangers. “The park thanks the Flathead County Dispatch for their professional and prompt transfer of the incident and Two Bear Air for their quick recovery efforts,” Glacier said in the news release. “Park staff would like to express their deepest condolences to the family and ask that the public respect the family’s privacy.” [END] [1] Url: https://dailymontanan.com/briefs/glacier-park-columbia-falls-man-dies-in-suspected-climbing-fall/ Content is licensed through Creative Commons license CC BY-NC-ND 4.0. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/montanan/
