Hardin man charged with threatening to kill FBI special agent – Daily Montanan [1] ['Blair Miller', 'More From Author', '- October'] Date: 2023-10 A Hardin man pleaded not guilty this week to threatening to kill an FBI special agent and making threatening phone calls earlier this year, according to federal court records. Glenn Gale Ware, 45, made his initial appearance in federal court in Billings on Tuesday and was remanded to federal custody after he pleaded not guilty to the two counts. According to a redacted grand jury indictment – the full version remains under seal – Ware on July 11 in Billings allegedly threatened to assault and kill an FBI special agent “with the intent to impede, intimidate and interfere with such office while engaged in, and with intent to retaliate against such officer.” The indictment also says that Ware, sometime between June 19 and Aug. 12, made “repeated” phone calls “solely to harass a person at the called number.” The remainder of the indictment is redacted. A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Montana said she could not provide further details on the case beyond what is available in the public court documents. A Crow Tribe Executive Branch document shows Ware ran unsuccessfully for a legislative branch seat in 2017. Ware was arrested on Oct. 6 and is being represented by a public defender in the case. Ware had initially been scheduled to appear in court on Friday, but that appearance was vacated. The judge in the case also vacated future court dates set at Ware’s Oct. 10 hearing. A pretrial conference and trial in the case had initially been set for Dec. 11. Ware is at least the third Montanan this year to be arrested for allegedly threatening to kill a federal official or politician. Late last month, a Billings man was charged with threatening to kill U.S. Sen. Jon Tester, a Montana Democrat. In May, a Kalispell man pleaded guilty to one count of threatening to murder Tester stemming from phone calls he made in January. He was sentenced in August to 30 months in prison.
