Zelenskyy to WWII vet: 'You saved Europe' [1]

A 99-year-old U.S. World War II veteran shared an emotional moment with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. When the vet, retired Staff Sergeant Melvin Hurwitz, recognized the president, he exclaimed, “Oh, you’re the savior of the people!” They shared a hug, as Zelenskyy replied, “No, you saved Europe!”

The exchange, which took place as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau looked on and the crowd cheered, happened during a ceremony to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion to liberate France during World War II.
